Or Ami’s David Labkovski Project: Documenting History Through Art April 26-May 1, 2019

At the end of April, Congregation Or Ami will be hosting a pop-up art gallery featuring the work of Lithuanian/Israeli artist David Labkovski. Below are some events for you to get up close and personal with Labkovski’s unique work…

Friday, April 26 at 7:30 – 9:00 pm
Art Shabbat – with Leora Ralkin, Executive Director of the David Labkovski Project on “Documenting History Through Art from Jerusalem of Lithiuania, to the Gulags of Siberia, to Israel and America: The Life and Journey of Art and Artist, David Labkovski.” Art Shabbat focuses on the legacy and responsibility of bearing witness. Gallery tour immediately following services. Please bring your leftover Pesadik desserts for the pot-luck Passover Oneg.

Tuesday, April 30 at 7:00 – 8:30 pm
Labkovski Paint and Sip – Paint in Labkovski style while learning about his life and enjoying wine. This will take the place of April’s Torah study. $20 Registration (Free for Adult B’nai Mitzvah and Adult Confirmation Students)

Wednesday, May 1 at 4:00-6:00 pm
In this intergenerational program, our Kesher 6th Graders will be paired with active adults and empty nesters for learning and getting to know each other as we examine Shalom Aleichem and his characters through Labkovski’s illustrations. Please register if you are an empty nester, active adult and/or interested in this unique educational opportunity for our 6th graders by clicking here.
