When we first created Men\’s Night Out at Congregation Or Ami, we hoped that an occasional gathering of men would lead to friendships and meaningful conversations. Over the years, Men\’s Night Out has succeeded in that and more. When the men from Jewish families gather at a congregant\’s home, we schmooze (kibbitz or talk), eat a light but tasty meal, and connect over shared interests, work or just being men from Jewish families. Each gathering includes a deep conversation with Rabbi Paul Kipnes about engaging topics, including how to respond to antisemitism, being a father/son, how do we define success, creating civil conversations in a polarized world, and what does it mean to be a man today. Each gathering attracts men from age 28 to 88, which has provided fascinating connection that transcends age and generations.
At the conclusion of Men\’s Night Out, Rabbi Kipnes randomly divides the participants into troikas (groups of 3 men) who pledge to get together in the next month for breakfast, lunch, or a drink. About Noah Diamondstein
A student of music and Torah, Noah Diamondstein seeks to elevate souls through Jewish music that is emotionally resonant and a sustenance for the heart and mind, as music like this has always been for him.
Noah is a multi-instrumentalist who plays almost every instrument on his records, from guitar, to bass, to drums, to banjo, to mandolin, to vocals and more! His music crosses genres from folk to pop to hard rock, and his textual influences span liturgy, Bible, and rabbinic texts. His lyrics address prayer, mental health, Israel, bettering the world, and what it really means to be strong. He dreams of creating intentional prayer practice with communities he gets to serve and with whom he gets to sing, and is constantly searching for new ways to inspire people to think and feel deeply about life and how Jewish tradition, stories and thought can imbue it with meaning.

About Congressperson Ted Lieu
Ted W. Lieu represents California’s 33rd Congressional District in the United States House of Representatives. Rep. Lieu is serving in his third term in Congress and currently sits on the House Judiciary Committee and the House Foreign Affairs Committee. He was also elected by his Democratic Colleagues to serve as a Co-Chair of the Democratic Policy and Communications Committee.
Rep. Lieu is a former active duty officer in the U.S. Air Force and currently serves as a Colonel in the Reserves, stationed at Los Angeles Air Force Base. In Congress, he has established himself as a leader on the environment; cybersecurity; civil liberties; government ethics and veterans.
Rep. Lieu was first elected in 2014, having taken over the seat of Henry Waxman, who retired after serving in Congress for 40 years. Prior to serving in Congress, He was elected to the California State Senate in 2011 and the State Assembly in 2005.
Looking for a better life and opportunity, Rep. Lieu and his family immigrated to the United States when he was three years old. Recognizing the great opportunities America had given to his family, he wanted to serve his country to preserve the American Dream. He joined the United States Air Force, where he served in the JAG corps. After serving on active duty for four years, Rep. Lieu wanted to continue to serve his country and joined the Reserves. Rep. Lieu has received numerous medals for his outstanding military service, including the Air Force Humanitarian Service Medal and multiple Meritorious Service Medals.
