Security Update and Key Tag Distribution
Dear Or Ami Families,
As part of our ongoing commitment to ensuring the security and safety of our community, we are implementing an enhanced security measure beginning at the end of January.
Showing Key Tags at Doors
Beginning February 1, 2024, all congregants entering the building will be required to show their new colored key tags (no longer teal) for the coming 2024 calendar year. This step is necessary due to the increased security situation for Jewish institutions nationwide. Those without key tags, or not on the daily list of expected guests provided to security, may be subject to additional questions and be asked to provide IDs. We understand the importance of balancing security measures with maintaining the close-knit, welcoming, and friendly environment that defines Congregation Or Ami. The new colored key tags will help us achieve this delicate balance.
Key Tag Distribution
Each household will receive a key tag for every partner adult, and a key tag for any teens who drive. To facilitate a smooth transition, we have scheduled key tag distribution days on the following dates:
- Wednesday 1/10 – Before Rosh Hodesh
- Friday, 1/12 – Before Shabbat Services
- Tuesday, 1/16 – After Kesher Drop off and Pick Up
- Wednesday, 1/17 – After Kesher Drop off and Pick Up
- Friday, 1/19 – Before 4th Grade Siddur Dedication Shabbat Service
Bags and Packages
All bags, purses, backpacks, and packages will be subject to inspection as determined by security. All mailed packages and mail will be screened outside the building prior to entry.
Thank you for your commitment to the security and safety of Congregation Or Ami and for your understanding and support as we work together to create a secure and inclusive environment for all. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to any of us.
L’shalom,
