Adult B’nai/B’not Mitzvah Class Forming  (In-Person)

Or Ami’s Adult B’nai/B’not Mitzvah program is designed for those ready to deepen their connection to Judaism, explore Hebrew, learn Jewish rituals, and study Torah. The program will culminate in a meaningful shared B’nai/B’not Mitzvah service, where you’ll stand alongside your peers to read from Torah and mark this incredible milestone together. Whether you’re reconnecting with your roots, or experiencing these traditions for the first time, this journey is for you.

Participants must be current Or Ami Congregants. Please register to share your interest. A meeting will be scheduled to explore dates/times.

This workshop, designed for parents of adult children 20+ years old, helps you develop the skills to create meaningful conversations and also to practice curiosity and manage reactivity. Discover how to successfully navigate the transition from a parent/child to parent/adult relationship.

Debbi Molnar is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor and Professional Coach in private practice. She is a certified Imago relationship therapist and trauma specialist. In addition to her private practice, she leads workshops and develops curriculum for programs throughout the Los Angeles area. Additionally, she has been a guest lecturer at several graduate schools and adult education programs. She has supervised graduate interns and trained facilitators for couple’s workshops. Her specialties include working with couples, parents and people in transition, including recent graduates, empty nesters and retirees. Additionally, she leads resiliency workshops and works with victims of trauma.

Dead Sea Scrolls Exhibit at the Ronald Reagan Library with Rabbi Lana
Sunday, February 2 – 10:30 am PT  (Meet in the front lobby of the Ronald Reagan Library)

We will meet Rabbi Lana at the Ronald Reagan Library at 10:30 am for an orientation and teaching. Then, we are off to explore one of the most significant archaeological discoveries of the 20th century. The exhibit has eight authentic Dead Sea scrolls and over 200 artifacts from the period of the second temple, including the sea of Galilee boat and objects from Masada.

Please pre-purchase your ticket for the 11:00 am time slot far in advance!

Supermarket Sweep
Sunday, February 2 – 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm PT   (Meet at Creekside Village at 2:00 p.m. Pick-up at Or Ami at 4:00 pm PT)

Meet us at 2:00 pm in front of Albertson’s at Creekside Village for an exciting afternoon! Participants will split into teams and dive into a Supermarket Sweep challenge. Each team will get $20 in cash* to plan and shop for ingredients to create a dish. Teams will have 20 minutes to shop inside Albertson’s before we walk together to Or Ami. Once there, it’s time to get cooking! Teams will prepare their dishes and face off in a Top Chef-style competition. Pick-up will be at Or Ami at 4 PM. Get ready for fun, creativity, and some friendly competition! (No cooking/baking experience necessary)

An opportunity for Or Ami youth and their friends to spend a weekend of fun at Camp Alonim. All activities are designed to promote a “camp” atmosphere. Sports, arts and crafts, hikes, and music are just some of the activities we will be sharing together. (7th-12th Graders are welcome to join! They serve as counselors/CIT’s for the weekend.)

Walking Tour of the Hollywood Forever Cemetery

Friday, February 23 – 12:00 noon PT   (Hollywood Forever Cemetery – 6000 Santa Monica Blvd., Los Angeles)  

Explore the lives and contributions of the Jewish residents interred at Hollywood Forever on the Jewish Heritage Tour. This easy 2.5 hour stroll includes a visit to the Beth Olam Mausoleum. Highlights include: Garbo’s agent Charles Feldman, mobster Bugsy Siegel, Academy Award winning screenwriter Michael Kanin (Woman of the Year),
The Ritz Brothers, and the Anne Frank Memorial.
