MAKOM is our 7th through 12th grade program that engages students to deepen their Jewish knowledge, leadership skills, spirituality, and social connection to their peers. MAKOM is replacing the program formerly known as HUB.
MAKOM (for 7th & 8th Grade)
At Makom, we combine social-emotional learning (SEL) with relevant Jewish wisdom to help teens grow into thoughtful, compassionate, and confident young adults. Our program cultivates practices of self-awareness, self-care, and reflection (shleimut), encouraging healthy and honest relationships while exploring questions of community and belonging (hesed). We strive to empower teens to use their authentic voices in the pursuit of justice and equity (tzedek). Through this approach, teens build the knowledge, confidence, and values they need to make thoughtful, respectful, and responsible choices about their bodies, relationships, and lives.
MAKOM 78 meets about two Wednesday evenings a month from 6:00 – 7:30 pm.
MAKOM HIGH (for 9th – 12th Grade)
At MAKOM HIGH teens can relax, hang out with friends, and gain advanced skills in various areas. Every week is something new! Be inspired as you learn about money/finance, Jewish history, Middle Eastern geopolitics, survival skills, cooking/baking, time management and much more; all taught through a Jewish lens. 11th and 12th graders meet monthly with the rabbis as part of Confirmation.
MAKOM HIGH meets about two Wednesday evenings a month from 6:00 – 7:30 pm. Drop in depending on your schedule and interests.

MAKOM is also part of the Neshama Initiative
The Or Ami Neshama [Soul] Initiative is a multifaceted initiative, spanning 7th-12th grades, designed to build a safe space and caring community for Jewish teens and pre-teens of Congregation Or Ami and the surrounding communities. Participants learn about and experiment with Neshama tools, strategies for dealing with the challenging stresses and pressures that teens face in the world. The initiative fosters safe and trusting relationships among peers and adult mentors, including youth advisors and rabbis.
