MICHELLE BLUMENTHAL\'S BIO

Michelle Blumenthal is thrilled to join the Or Ami team as our Education Intern for the 2019-2020 school year. With over 10 years’ of experience in Jewish Education, Michelle is looking forward to growing in new ways as she works with our Kesher and Mensch-ify programs. She is currently pursuing a Masters Degree in Jewish Education and has finished the requirements for her Certificate in Jewish Nonprofit Management at Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion. She comes to Los Angeles after serving four years as the Director of Jewston, Houston Hillel’s community for Jewish 20somethings. Michelle is a Birthright fellow who has staffed several Birthright trips through URJ Kesher. She sat on the Young Adult Committee at Congregation Emanu El in Houston, Texas, her childhood synagogue, as well as the local JDC Entwine Committee.

Before arriving in Houston, Michelle lived in Boca Raton, FL, where she served as the Program Associate at the Hillel of Broward and Palm Beach. While in Florida, Michelle taught Third and Seventh grade students at Temple Beth El. Prior to her work in Florida, Michelle lived in Jackson, MS where she spent two wonderful years as an Education Fellow at the Institute of Southern Jewish Life. While there, she fell in love with Southern Jewish culture and decided to become a Jewish Professional. To enhance her knowledge, Michelle enrolled in the HUC-JIR Certificate in Jewish Education Specializing in Adolescents and Emerging Adults in 2011. Michelle graduated from the University of Arizona in 2010, with a double major in Judaic Studies and Communication, was an active member of Alpha Epsilon Phi and spent her summers on staff at URJ Greene Family Camp.
