Description: Thousands of new items of comfort and necessity are donated for several months and then on Mitzvah Day, November, we fill hundreds of personalized duffle bags for children entering emergency foster placement. Volunteers help seek large donations of items, to sort/count items, and transform the synagogue into a huge assembly line on the day before the actual event, help hand out items for the duffels, and facilitate the actual day.

Family Friendly: Yes

Is It B’nai Mitzvah Project worthy?: 10-hour minimum commitment – requires several months advance planning and approval by Event Chairs and Mitzvah Project Coordinator. Interested students coordinate with Event Chairs to conduct a donation drive for specific items in his/her family, neighborhood or school. With approval of Event Chairs, students coordinate other aspects of Mitzvah Day.
