Tammy Cohen is a Jewish Educator and musician from Melbourne, Australia, currently living in Los Angeles. She is passionate about nurturing individual engagement in Judaism; community development and sustainability; and innovative experiential learning opportunities for learners of all ages. Tammy has over 10 years’ experience in Jewish and Hebrew education, prayer leading and music programs for children and adults. She also has a love for Musical Theatre, Purim Spiels, and storytelling, and is dedicated to connecting together her love for Judaism, music and theatre.

Tammy is currently enrolled in her second year in the concurrent Masters of Jewish Education and Masters of Jewish Non-Profit Management programs at Hebrew Union College – Jewish Institute of Religion. Prior to beginning her studies, she was B’nei Mitzvah Coordinator at Temple Beth Israel, Melbourne, Australia.

Tammy is thrilled to be joining Or Ami as an Education Intern, working in our Kesher and Mensch-ify programs. She writes, “I am excited to continue developing Congregation Or Ami’s innovative ways of connecting learners of all ages. I look forward to drawing on my own positive synagogue and Jewish Day School experiences, to focus on creating unique connections with each student, mentoring them, and learning together.”

A strong believer in life-long learning, Tammy is currently developing her own skills in playing guitar and in converting between Fahrenheit and Celsius.
